Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join our growing team. This role is responsible for designing custom stainless-steel equipment, conveyors, and fabrication solutions tailored to client specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial equipment design, manufacturing processes, and CAD modeling. Key Responsibilities Design and develop custom stainless-steel equipment, including conveyors, tanks, platforms, and hygienic systems Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) Collaborate with project managers, fabrication teams, and clients to ensure design accuracy and feasibility Review project specifications and translate requirements into functional designs Ensure designs meet industry standards, including sanitary and safety requirements Support production teams with technical drawings, BOMs, and troubleshooting Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives Maintain documentation and revision control for all engineering drawings Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience) 3+ years of experience in design engineering, preferably in manufacturing or metal fabrication Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) Experience designing custom equipment or industrial systems Knowledge of stainless steel fabrication, welding, and manufacturing processes is a plus Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications Experience with food-grade or hygienic design standards (FDA, USDA, etc.) Familiarity with conveyors, automation systems, or process equipment Experience working directly with fabrication shops or production teams What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience Health benefits and paid time off Opportunity to work on custom, innovative engineering projects Collaborative and hands-on work environment How to Apply Apply through ZipRecruiter or submit your resume to [email protected] Company Description Chicago Metalcraft Inc. is a leading stainless steel fabrication company based in South Elgin, IL.
