DELIVERY MANAGER - ALPHA PHASE, PUBLIC SECTOR DIGITAL SERVICE Rate: £565/day (Inside IR35) A specialist digital consultancy is looking for an experienced Delivery Manager to lead the alpha phase of a public-facing guidance tool. The product is designed to help parents and schools navigate and manage the complaints process, and follows a successful discovery phase completed earlier this year. This is a hands-on delivery role within a multidisciplinary agile team, with the project running through to mid-October and potential to extend.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Leading the day-to-day delivery of the alpha phase, setting the pace and removing blockers so the team can ship work effectively Managing agile ceremonies, sprint planning, standups, retros, and show-and-tells to keep momentum and transparency across the team Working closely with the Product Manager to prioritise work and manage scope within the alpha timeframe Managing risks, dependencies, and issues, escalating early and clearly when needed Building strong relationships with client stakeholders, keeping them informed and aligned without slowing the team down Ensuring the team is working to GDS service standards and delivering against alpha assessment criteria Managing budgets, resourcing, and reporting to keep the project on track commercially and operationally Supporting the team culture, creating a safe, collaborative environment where people do their best work ABOUT YOU Proven experience delivering alpha or beta phases on public sector digital services Strong understanding of GDS service standards and agile delivery in government or government-adjacent environments Comfortable managing multidisciplinary teams (designers, researchers, developers, product managers) Confident managing senior stakeholders and translating delivery progress into language they care about Experience managing scope and expectations on time-bound engagements Pragmatic and calm under pressure, you know when to push and when to protect the team Familiar with tools like Jira, Trello, or similar for backlog and sprint management
