DB2 for z/OS Systems Programmer

Overview

As a DB2 for z/OS Systems Programmer, you will provide technical leadership and operational support for a large, multi-subsystem DB2 environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure availability, performance, security, and DR readiness across regions. This role offers impact through strategic upgrades, performance optimization, and resilient database operations.

You will work in a complex enterprise setting, driving automation and reliability in support of business-critical applications.

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain DB2 for z/OS environments
• Support a large-scale enterprise DB2 infrastructure with multiple subsystems
• Plan and execute DB2 version upgrades, migrations, and maintenance
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for DB2-based applications
• Ensure stability, integrity, availability, and performance of DB2 databases
• Support and manage Distributed Data Facility (DDF) and distributed DB2 connectivity
• Maintain and optimize OLTP environments using CICS and DB2
• Monitor performance and implement tuning recommendations
• Perform capacity planning and growth forecasting
• Develop, test, and maintain backup, recovery, and DR procedures
• Ensure storage management, archiving, and retention processes
• Implement and manage database security controls and access governance
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database and infrastructure issues
• Collaborate with application teams on design, deployment, and problem resolution
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements
• Maintain technical documentation, operational standards, and support procedures
• Ensure database and monitoring solutions are kept on supported versions

• Typically 8 to 15+ years of IBM Mainframe Systems Programming with strong DB2 for z/OS administration
• Experience supporting large-scale DB2 environments with multiple subsystems
• DB2 installation, migration, maintenance, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
• Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, or other mission-critical environments preferred
• Hands-on experience with high-volume OLTP using CICS and DB2
• DB2 for z/OS (must have), z/OS, SMP/E, JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, RACF
• Experience installing/upgrading DB2 releases and providing Level 2/3 support
• Understanding of Distributed DB2 Connectivity (DDF)
• Expertise in: DB2 Performance Monitoring & Tuning, Capacity Planning, Backup & Recovery, Disaster Recovery, Database Security Administration
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in production
