A prominent UK law firm is looking for a Data Protection Officer to join its Risk & Compliance Team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced data protection professional to take a key role in developing, implementing and monitoring the firm's data protection framework.
The successful candidate will work closely with the firm's fee-earning Data Protection Group, providing specialist advice and supporting the development of policies, standards and processes across the firm.
Key Responsibilities for the Data Protection Officer:
- Develop, maintain and monitor the firm's data protection policies, standards and procedures.
- Work closely with the firm's fee-earning Data Protection Group to ensure a consistent and effective approach to data protection across the firm.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on data protection and privacy matters to lawyers and business teams.
- Review and assess data protection risks associated with vendors, contractors and other third parties.
- Advise on data processing arrangements, data sharing, international transfers and other privacy-related matters.
- Assist with the development and delivery of data protection training and awareness initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with Risk & Compliance, IT, Information Security, Procurement and other key stakeholders on data protection initiatives.
- Keep up to date with developments in data protection legislation, regulatory guidance and industry best practice.
Key Requirements
- Experience working in a data protection, privacy or information governance role, ideally within a law firm environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK data protection legislation, including UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Experience developing, implementing and monitoring data protection policies, standards and procedures.
- Strong understanding of data protection risk and compliance requirements.
- A relevant data protection or privacy qualification would be advantageous.
