Data Engineer

Job Description Job Description About the Role Skycubed is seeking a Data Engineer with SECRET clearance (TS/SCI preferred) to drive the design and operation of scalable, high-performance data systems within mission-critical DoW cyber environments. You will build and optimize pipelines that process both structured and unstructured data, automate workflows, and integrate data across diverse systems—enabling secure, actionable insights for defense operations. Job Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and streaming workflows.

Build and optimize high-performance data parsing, schema design, and data modeling solutions. Develop API integrations and automation frameworks to support mission requirements. Implement best practices in CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, containerization, observability, and DevSecOps.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure and reliable data operations. Monitor and troubleshoot production systems, ensuring high availability and performance. Job Requirements Strong experience in designing and operating scalable data collection and processing systems.

Proficiency in Bash, Go or Python, including automation and integration tasks. Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.). Familiarity with data modeling, schema design, and high-performance parsing of structured and unstructured data.

Experience in observability tools and implementing DevSecOps practices. Active SECRET clearance required; TS/SCI preferred. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Skills & Certifications Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for data pipelines and processing. Familiarity with big data tools and platforms such as Spark, Kafka, or Elastic Stack. Relevant certifications (AWS Certified Data Analytics, GCP Professional Data Engineer, or similar).
