We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment, and this salary range is designed to support that commitment.Job Description:Full-time | PermanentCalgary or Edmonton, AB (Hybrid – 3 days in-office)What You’ll DoBuild & Support Data SolutionsDevelop, maintain, and monitor scalable data pipelines and integration workflowsSupport data ingestion, transformation, and storage across cloud and on-prem systemsEnsure the reliability, quality, and performance of data platformsMonitor & Troubleshoot Data SystemsProactively monitor pipelines, jobs, and databases for performance and issuesInvestigate alerts, logs, and anomalies to identify root causesCollaborate with senior team members to resolve incidents and improve stabilityCollaborate & LearnWork closely with Senior Data Engineers, Architects, and cross-functional teamsParticipate in pair programming, troubleshooting sessions, and design discussionsGain hands-on experience across modern data platforms and cloud technologiesWork with High-Impact DataAnalyze and process diverse datasets, including:Equipment telemetry & machine health dataSales, service, and customer dataExternal data (weather, economic indicators)Contribute to Continuous ImprovementDocument issues, root causes, and solutionsSuggest improvements to enhance platform performance and reliabilityBuild knowledge of Finning’s data landscape and business domainsWhat You Bring: Must-Have Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems , or related field2+ years of experience in:Programming (any modern language)SQL and relational databasesData processing or pipeline developmentExperience with:Data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes , or integration workflowsData warehouses or analytical data platformsVersion control tools (e.g., Git)Understanding of:Data modelling (relational & dimensional)Core data engineering concepts and best practicesExposure to:REST APIsCloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)Nice to Have or Non-Mandatory (Bonus Skills):Experience with Azure data services or cloud-native data engineeringFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines, containers (Kubernetes), or infrastructure automationKnowledge of observability tools, logging systems, and monitoring frameworksExposure to MLOps, machine learning, or advanced analyticsExperience with IoT, telemetry, or high-volume operational datasetsUnderstanding of data governance, quality, and lineage conceptsWhy Join Finning?Work on modern, enterprise-scale data platforms Learn from experienced engineers and architectsContribute to real-world business impact across industriesCollaborative, supportive team environmentStrong opportunities for career growth and developmentFlexible hybrid work model (3 days in-office)Ready to Apply?If you’re a motivated early-career data engineer looking to build meaningful solutions and grow your career— we’d love to hear from you.At Finning, we prioritize creating a diverse and inclusive environment.
