Job Description – Data Center Mechanical Commissioning Engineer This is a US based position only - sponsorship not provided. This is not a data engineer position. Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt Travel Requirement: 60–80% project-based travel to client sites nationwide.

Home base is flexible — live anywhere in the continental U.S. with reliable access to a major airport. Position Summary The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer is responsible for executing mechanical commissioning activities on mission-critical data center projects under the direction of senior engineers, discipline leads, and project managers. This role focuses on disciplined execution, accurate documentation, and system readiness to support reliable cooling and mechanical performance in alignment with the Anchor Mission Critical Playbook.

Key Responsibilities - Execute mechanical commissioning activities as assigned by Senior Engineers or Leads - Perform Pre-Functional Checks (PFCs), including L2/L3 readiness inspections - Execute Functional Performance Testing (FPT) per approved procedures - Support Integrated Systems Testing (IST), including thermal failure and recovery scenarios - Coordinate with electrical, controls teams, contractors, and OEMs during testing - Document test results, deficiencies, and corrective actions - Maintain accurate, timely commissioning documentation Technical Competencies - Foundational understanding of mechanical and cooling systems - Familiarity with CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, pumps, valves, and heat rejection equipment - Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and sequences of operation - Understanding of basic redundancy and thermal performance concepts - Willingness to learn commissioning processes and tools Education & Experience Requirements Required: - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience - 2–7 years of experience in mechanical systems, construction, or commissioning Preferred: - Mission-critical or data center experience - Prior exposure to commissioning or testing activities Certifications (Preferred) - OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Construction Safety - Commissioning-related coursework or training Performance Expectations - Safe, accurate execution of assigned mechanical testing activities - Complete and defensible commissioning documentation - Responsiveness to direction and feedback - Demonstrated technical growth and readiness for increased responsibility Compensation & Benefits - Competitive base salary commensurate with experience - Performance-based bonus eligibility - Travel expenses and per diem per company policy - Benefits eligibility per company plans Salary Range $90,000 – $118,000 This range reflects nominal experience of 2–7 years in mechanical commissioning or related fields. Compensation above the stated range may be considered for exceptional experience or accelerated development. Bonus eligibility and payout are based on a combination of individual performance, project success, and company-wide results. Employment Status This position is full-time and exempt. Employment is at-will, subject to applicable state and federal law.
