Custodian - Substitute

Custodians play an important part in maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment assuring the proper operation of all facilities. We are currently seeking substitute custodians that will be on call to fill in when a full-time custodian is out for an extended period of time. Assignments may be 3 days to 12 weeks.

A Day in the Life: Assists with opening the building in order for students and staff to begin the school day, for example, unlock doors, raise flag, pick up trash, turn on lights, etc. Helps maintain cleanliness of the building including washing windows, picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms and drinking fountains, and mopping floors when necessary. Repairs building and equipment as assigned to assure equipment is operational for students and staff.

Sets up and removes equipment as needed for daily activities such as lunch, special activities and evening programs. Provides crossing guard duties in order to ensure students, parents, and staff are able to cross the street safely. Helps receive deliveries and dispenses of the equipment/supplies/furniture in their appropriate places.

Assists with closing the building in order to ensure the building is secure and utility costs are minimized. Maintains confidentiality as appropriate in order to comply with district, state and federal laws. Performs other duties as assigned in order to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe environment.

Assists with special projects such as putting together new furniture, painting walls, completing repairs, and doing major repairs during summer months and at times when school is not in session. Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies for the purpose of re-locating classrooms. Supervises students, as needed, in order to ensure their safety.
