Description of position The Corporate Tax Analyst/ Senior Tax Analyst’s responsibilities will be to support activities relating to Canadian taxes (Income Tax, Withholding Tax, and Indirect Taxes). The level will be determined based on the candidate’s experience. Tasks and responsibilities ● On a quarterly basis, assist with the preparation of the income tax provision for Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd and all other Canadian related entities including the preparation of journal entries at year-end. ● Assist with preparation of the annual corporate income tax returns for Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd and all other Canadian related entities. ● Assist with the preparation of the provision to return workbooks and journal entries. ● Assist with the preparation of the unaudited financial statements for Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd and all applicable Canadian related entities. ● Preparation of T4A-NR, RL-1 and NR4 tax slips. ● Preparation and audit of the withholding tax remittances. ● Responsible for the reconciliations of Corporate Tax GL accounts for Costco Wholesale Canada and all other related entities. ● Prepare monthly income tax instalments for all required entities. ● May be required to communicate with buyers, the accounting department and suppliers. ● May be required to provide assistance with the preparation of GST/HST, QST and PST returns. ● Perform and coordinate internal audit and compliance reviews, which includes gathering supporting documentation. ● Assist in updating training material geared for internal staff.
Perform any other projects or tasks as required. Qualifications A university degree in an accounting-related field is required . CPA designation is strongly preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
If currently enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program, PERT completion is required . A minimum of two years of Canadian Corporate Income Tax experience is required. Bilingualism, written and spoken (French/English) is preferred.
Excellent knowledge of business software applications (Google Suite, Excel, Database Management) is required (Candidates will be tested). Strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills are required . Strong analytical skills are required (Candidates will be tested).
Must have proven strong time-management and organizational skills. Knowledge of SAP and/or Vertex is preferred. Must be very comfortable working with numbers and formulas.
Motivated self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision. Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment. Must manage different priorities with precision and attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
