Job Description
We are looking to hire a friendly, motivated, and capable Consultant Ecologist to help support us in carrying out a wide variety of habitat and protected species surveys. We are located in north-west England, but have worked from the south coast up to south Scotland, and frequently work in Wales. Our existing team includes members with special interests in bats, birds, botanicals and amphibians who are always looking to share their knowledge and experience; but we are always looking to expand our skills and take on new challenges. Our team strongly believes in obtaining a fair deal for wildlife and the environment, and we are looking for applicants who share a genuine interest and care for British nature. Our clients are also important to us, and we are looking for applicants who are able to understand and work with everyone from householder applicants through small developers to infrastructure projects. In line with our company ethos, we do not provide our services to projects which we feel do not properly consider ecological impacts. N.B. This is not an entry-level position! Hours Full-time, with some evening work expected (Flexible paid overtime and TOIL system in place) Holiday/Benefits 28 days plus bank holidays, and birthday off (or next working day).

Experience & Qualifications A graduate with a 2:1 degree or higher in Ecology or a related subject Minimum of two years’ professional consultancy experience, or demonstrable, equivalent experience in an associated sector Excellent field skills including leading and organising surveys, and coordinating colleagues Confidence in carrying out Preliminary Ecological Assessments of complicated sites, mapping in UKHab 2.0 Experience in undertaking BNG assessments including working with developers to achieve a net-gain A strong understanding of UK environmental law and planning systems, and motivation to stay up-to-date with any changes Confidence in working as an ECoW Transferable skills in mapping in and extracting data from a GIS software such as QGIS Immaculate attention to detail, to be used in both report writing and reviewing Good interpersonal skills, including team-work and client liaison Full UK driving license and own transport Willingness to work unusual hours and to tight deadlines A postgraduate degree in a relevant subject Membership of CIEEM or another appropriate professional institution Leadership and management, project management BREEAM, EcIA, shadow HRA Phone 01704 875781 Email [email protected] We may close this advert early if we successfully fill the role prior to the end date of 17th June 2026. #J-18808-Ljbffr
