About the role
RSM has a new and exciting opportunity for a graduate or postgraduate who is interested in building a career in company secretarial practice, corporate governance and compliance.
This role is particularly well suited to students registering for Ulster University’s Management and Corporate Governance programme or students registering for MSc in Corporate Governance with Hibernia College who want to combine professional study with practical, client‑facing experience.
As part of our Company Secretarial team, you will gain hands‑on experience supporting Irish and international clients with statutory compliance, governance administration, board and shareholder processes, company formations and ongoing corporate records. You will work with experienced professionals and have exposure to senior management teams across a broad range of sectors.
The role offers structured on‑the‑job training and support while completing the Management and Corporate Governance qualification pathway. The combination of relevant work experience and postgraduate study can support progression towards qualification with The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland.
Responsibilities:
- Assistance with the preparation and filing of Annual Returns and taking responsibility for ensuring that clients are aware of their statutory filing obligations.
- Assistance with the preparation and filing of ad hoc statutory forms at the Companies Registration Office (e.g. change of officer, change of address etc.)
- Assist with Incorporating companies and preparing de‑shelving documents including company officer details and changes to share capital.
- Updating and maintaining the company secretarial database.
- Maintaining company Minute Books and Statutory Registers.
- Assist with incoming post for registered office clients.
- Assist with the maintenance of the annual compliance diary to ensure client filings are progressed in a timely manner.
- Liaise with clients, colleagues and external advisers in a professional and responsive manner, escalating technical queries to senior team members where appropriate.
- Assist with client onboarding and Client Due Diligence through internal systems.
- Conduct basic company law and corporate governance research under the guidance of senior colleagues.
- Contribute to process improvements within the Company Secretarial function, including the use of technology and standardised precedents to support efficient service delivery.
- Responsibility for billing clients and debtors’ collection.
- Filing, archiving and general administrative duties.
About the ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Be registered for, accepted onto, or have a strong interest in completing a Corporate Governance programme or an equivalent governance qualification.
- Hold a third‑level degree, ideally in business, law, accounting, governance, management or a related discipline
- Have a genuine interest in corporate governance, company law, compliance, board effectiveness and how well‑governed organisations operate.
- Be organised, professional and able to manage competing deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills , with confidence dealing with clients, colleagues and external advisers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to managing deadlines and administrative tasks.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential client information.
