Commercial Director

Future Talent Group

LondonFull-timeMid LevelOn-site

Job Description

We're working with a fast-scaling, VC/PE-backed tech company that's reshaping a major slice of urban infrastructure, growing more than 40% year-on-year and picking up recognition along the way as one of the UK's fastest-growing tech businesses. They’re now hiring their first Commercial Director: a genuinely senior, build-it role reporting directly to the CEO and sitting on the leadership team.

Right now, new business, key accounts, tenders and sales operations all sit as separate pockets. You’ll bring them together into one commercial function, with one forecast, one operating rhythm and clear accountability for the number the board sees every month.

What you’ll be doing

  • Owning the commercial number: revenue delivery, pipeline health, forecast accuracy, and the calls that come with performance moving off plan
  • Building and leading one commercial organisation across new business, key accounts, tenders and sales ops, including the management layer beneath you
  • Shaping go-to-market strategy alongside the CEO, with growing influence as you build credibility
  • Creating a proper operating rhythm: weekly forecasting, pipeline reviews, stage discipline, CRM hygiene and reporting the leadership team can actually trust
  • Owning pricing discipline and deal economics, working closely with the CEO and CFO
  • Hiring, coaching and developing commercial leaders, and making the tough calls when performance isn’t there
  • Staying close to the deals and accounts that matter, and feeding what you hear from the market back into the business

What we’re looking for

  • You’ve led a genuinely multi-team B2B commercial function, with managers or team leads reporting to you, not just individual reps
  • You’ve built and scaled a commercial organisation through a real growth phase, ideally moving a business from founder-led or ad hoc sales into a structured function (post-Series A/B is a good comparison)
  • You’ve personally owned a meaningful revenue number and can talk fluently about forecast accuracy, pipeline coverage, conversion and sales-cycle length
  • You’ve used a CRM like HubSpot as an actual operating system, not just a database reps update after the fact
  • You’re an experienced manager of managers, comfortable coaching leaders and making hard people decisions
  • Experience selling into property, facilities management, public sector or proptech/mobility is a bonus, not a requirement
  • Exposure to tender-based or public sector sales alongside conventional new business is a plus, given the mixed sales motion here

The package

£100,000 base (£150,000 OTE + options). This is a genuine build-it mandate with room to grow, and a realistic path to a Chief Commercial Officer.
