Commercial Accountant

The Opportunity

A growing Australian business is seeking a commercially minded finance professional to join the team in a broad, hands-on role that offers genuine ownership and the opportunity to influence business performance.

Initially offered as a 6-9 month contract, this position has a strong pathway to permanency. This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys operating across both the technical and commercial aspects of finance and is looking to take the next step towards a future finance leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities
• Monitor financial performance and provide commercial insights
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with internal processes
• Support cash flow and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with process improvements and finance transformation initiatives
• Partner with stakeholders across the business to support operational decision-making
• Contribute to ad hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

• CA or CPA qualification
• Experience in a Senior Financial Accountant, Management Accountant, Finance Business Partner or similar position
• Strong management reporting, budgeting and forecasting capability
• The ability to communicate financial information to non-finance stakeholders
• A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working across ERP and finance systems
• Previous experience within a growing, dynamic organisation will be highly regarded
