Job Description As a Software Co-op Student, you will be working with a diverse and experienced team of engineering professionals, you will follow Scrum practices while learning and supporting the Software Development Life Cycle from our technical leads. Responsibilities Perform some design, analysis and test functions under the mentorship of more senior engineers.
Document analyses, designs and tests (tech notes, sections of requirements specifications, design documents, test plans and test reports) in the format prescribed by standard templates with the supervision of a more experienced engineer. Implement software routines to meet software requirements. Maintain code base in accordance with coding standards.
Some development and performance of integration test and debug of implementations. Some development and performance of design verification test under the supervision of more senior engineers. Investigate system problem reports and field incident reports; perform root cause and trend analyses; Provide technical support during high-level integration and qualification testing.
Provide technical support to internal customers. Perform developmental configuration management activities. Present work at design reviews or other types of peer reviews.
Some travel may be required to support internal and external customers. Qualifications Pursuing a University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Software Engineer, Computer Science or equivalent technical degree. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Enthusiastic, willing to learn, and takes ownership of assigned work. Available to work a minimum term duration of 8+ months. It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed.
Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.
Compensation The expected hourly rate for this position is $ – $ Final compensation will be determined based on your relevant work experience to date. As part of student placement, you will be eligible for quarterly pay increases.
