We are currently seeking a Class A CDL Route Driver to operate an end-dump trailer on local collection routes. Drivers are responsible for safely collecting and transporting food waste and organic materials while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining compliance with all DOT and company safety standards.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to the safety of yourself, your coworkers, and the communities we serve.

Schedule

  • Route Driver – Operating a Straight Truck
  • Start time typically between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM
  • Assigned primarily to local routes
  • Home daily
  • May occasionally cross state lines based on business needs
  • Flexibility to work additional hours during seasonal peak periods, including up to 60 hours in 7 days or 70 hours in 8 days, in accordance with DOT regulations

Key Responsibilities

Transportation & Route Operations

  • Safely operate a Class A commercial vehicle with an end-dump trailer to collect and transport food waste and organic materials.
  • Complete assigned local collection routes with approximately 15–25 customer stops per day
  • Transport materials safely and efficiently while following company routing and scheduling.
  • Operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles in compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Safely operate manual and electric pallet jacks when required.
  • May be assigned to interstate routes as business needs dictate.

Customer Service

  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with customers during collections.
  • Leave each customer location clean by pressure washing bins and removing debris when necessary.
  • Communicate service concerns, customer requests, or operational issues promptly to the operations team.
  • Represent Denali professionally while providing dependable, high-quality service.

Equipment Inspection & Maintenance

  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on tractors and trailers.
  • Complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness of trucks, trailers, and company equipment.
  • Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs using hand tools when appropriate.
  • Report equipment issues, breakdowns, or safety concerns immediately.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Utilize the electronic logging device (ELD) system to maintain accurate Hours of Service records.
  • Complete and submit all required documentation, including:
    • Service tickets
    • Contamination reports
    • Vehicle inspection reports
    • Maintenance documentation
  • Ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, state, and local regulations.

Safety

  • Follow all company safety policies and DOT regulations.
  • Attend weekly safety meetings, training sessions, and operational briefings.
  • Report accidents, injuries, spills, or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Wear required PPE and maintain a safe work environment at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate Driver with the issuing state.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and PSP.
  • Must be at least:
    • 23 years old with a minimum of 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer experienceOR
    • 21 years old with 1 year of tractor-trailer experience and graduation from an accredited truck driving school or 1 year of military driving experience.
  • Stable work history.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience operating end-dump trailers
  • Experience with local route delivery and multiple daily stops.
  • Experience hauling food waste, agricultural products, bulk materials, or organic waste.
  • Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and preventative maintenance experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly lift, push, and pull up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to pull or roll up to 300 pounds while handling totes.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, climbing, and shoveling.
  • Comfortable working around food waste, organic materials, and unpleasant odors.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily outdoors and requires frequent interaction with customer locations, food processing facilities, farms, and industrial sites. Drivers should be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and around food waste, organic materials, and associated odors while maintaining a strong commitment to cleanliness, professionalism, and safety.
