Overview

In this Chartered Building Surveyor role in London, you will lead a varied mix of professional and project work within a multidisciplinary property team. You’ll serve clients across sectors, delivering surveys, defect analysis, reports, and PPAs while supporting business development and junior colleagues. The opportunity combines specialist surveying expertise with a broader group’s resources, offering autonomy, client exposure and a clear path for progression.

You’ll shape building survey strategies and contribute to a growing department in a culture focused on integrity and excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct building, condition and pre-acquisition surveys
  • Diagnose defects and assess building pathology
  • Produce technical reports, schedules and repair recommendations
  • Handle dilapidations, Scott Schedules and reinstatement assessments
  • Manage Party Wall and neighbourly matters including reports and Awards
  • Plan and advise on Planned Preventative Maintenance
  • Perform technical due diligence for acquisitions and disposals
  • Provide repair, refurbishment and reinstatement cost advice
  • Administer contracts and deliver small to medium projects (JCT Minor Works/DB)
  • Draft fee proposals and support business development
  • Build and maintain client relationships
  • Support and develop junior team members
Key requirements
  • MRICS qualification
  • Strong experience across core Building Surveying services
  • Solid knowledge of construction methods, defects and building pathology
  • Experience with building, condition and pre-acquisition surveys
  • Understanding of dilapidations and related legislation
  • Experience with Party Wall and neighbourly matters
  • Knowledge of planned maintenance and building lifecycles
  • Experience with JCT contracts
  • Excellent technical report writing and client communication skills
  • Commercially minded with understanding of fees and resources
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car
  • Right to work in the UK
