CCL Custom Underwriter Sr

The Centralized Commercial Lending – New Money Team is searching for a Commercial Underwriting Sr responsible for evaluating business loan applications based on established Bank policies and procedures as well as prudent lending practices. Candidate will evaluate the merits of a new money loan request in the $1MM-$5MM range of total exposure, and either recommend a decision to a senior officer or use their own authority to decision the application. Essential Duties and Responsibilites: Review cash flows and Moody’s CreditLens spreads, prepared by the Credit Analyst, to conduct in-depth analyses of financial information to form a recommendation of approval or denial of new loans in accordance with the Bank’s policy and procedures.

Prepare Credit Origination Memorandum in a clearly written concise manner, identifying strengths, risks and mitigating factors. Review, analyze and evaluate financial and pertinent data to determine credit worthiness of loan prospects and merits of specific loan requests. Collaborate with Relationship Managers, leaders and Business Development Officers to gather all necessary information to present an accurate and complete assessment of the loan presented.

On occasion, interact with clients or representatives virtually or in person calls in conjunction with Relationship Manager. Ability to prepare high quality, detailed credit approval documents that contain an in-depth analysis, an understanding of and identification of credit issues and risks in accordance with prudent lending practices. Ability to spread and interpret financial statements, tax returns, and projections using Excel and Moody’s CreditLens Ability to provide recommendations on loan structuring and alternative structures that may be more appropriate for the transaction.

Ability to mentor/support junior underwriters and credit analysts Ability to work in a high-volume environment, meeting or exceeding Service Level Agreements and turn time goals throughout the process, providing credit decisions in a timely manner. Work independently on special projects related to credit topics and issues as requested by Bank Credit team(s). Support the Banks strong relationship banking culture through on-going internal partner contact, quality customer service, and superior product knowledge.

Understand and adhere to the Banks Bank Secrecy Act policy and procedures and "know your customer/enhanced due diligence" guidelines. Brings any suspicious activity to the attention of a supervisor, or the Bank Secrecy Act Officer. Follow all Bank policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.
