Job Description
The Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies across domestic packaging categories for a growing distribution company in Elgin. This role partners closely with sourcing, suppliers, and senior leadership to drive cost savings, supplier performance, and process improvements while managing high‑SKU environments. This is a fully onsite position.
Key Responsibilities Develop and execute sourcing strategies for all domestic packaging categories in partnership with the Sourcing Specialist Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, holding suppliers accountable to performance and quality expectations Oversee and lead a team of direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement Identify and implement process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency based on spend analysis, supply market dynamics, category intelligence, and business needs Establish and achieve annual savings goals in alignment with the VP of Procurement Manage sourcing activities including strategy development, RFPs, and contracting Analyze market indices and trends to inform purchasing and category decisions Qualifications Category management or strategic sourcing experience within a distribution or manufacturing environment Required experience with corrugated box packaging Experience managing high SKU counts Proven ability to lead teams and drive sourcing strategy execution Strong analytical and supplier management skills Comfortable working in a 100% onsite environment Salary Range: $100,000–$125,000 Benefits Include Competitive benefits package Medical, dental, and vision coverage Paid time off and holidays 401(k) or retirement savings plan Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled To read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please visit https://www.lhh.com/candidate-privacy #J-18808-Ljbffr
