This job posting is for a current vacancy with our client. Interclara has been engaged by a growing third-party logistics company in Mississauga to help identify a hands-on Capacity Manager. Our client provides customized freight and supply chain solutions across North America and is continuing to grow its operations and service offering.
This is an opportunity to join an entrepreneurial, service-driven logistics business in a role that sits close to the daily movement of freight, carrier relationships, and operational execution. The Capacity Manager will help oversee daily transportation capacity, support the capacity team, work closely with carrier partners, and ensure shipments are matched with the right resources in a cost-effective and reliable way. This is a practical, hands-on role for someone who understands the pace of a 3PL environment and can balance urgency, service, cost, and team accountability.
The successful candidate will stay close to the workflow, help resolve issues quickly, and act as a key point of escalation between carriers, dispatch, customer service, warehouses, terminals, and internal operations teams. Key Responsibilities: Support and guide the capacity team day to day, including setting priorities, coaching team members, and ensuring follow-through. Monitor daily load volumes, urgent freight, carrier availability, and service requirements.
Match freight with the right carriers and equipment while keeping cost, service, and margins in mind. Source additional capacity when needed through preferred carriers, new carriers, or spot-market options. Handle rate discussions, spot quotes, lane pricing, and carrier negotiations.
Build and maintain strong relationships with current and new carrier partners. Support carrier onboarding and ensure compliance documentation is collected and kept up to date. Work closely with dispatch, customer service, terminals, warehouses, and operations teams to keep freight moving smoothly.
Take ownership of delays, missed pickups, truck breakdowns, capacity shortages, and other service issues by finding practical solutions quickly. Act as a point of escalation for the capacity team, keeping leadership and internal teams updated on major issues, risks, and high-priority freight. Track carrier performance and address recurring service or execution issues.
Maintain accurate information in internal systems, including carrier details, rates, capacity, and load assignments. Prepare daily updates and operational reporting related to capacity, service issues, and performance. What We're Looking For: 3+ years of experience in a 3PL, freight brokerage, carrier sales, capacity, or freight operations environment.
Experience in a team lead, senior coordinator, dispatch, capacity, carrier sales, or supervisory-style role would be an asset. Strong working knowledge of load planning, carrier sourcing, transportation execution, and TMS/logistics systems. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable making practical decisions in a fast-moving environment. Strong sense of urgency, accountability, and follow-through. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general logistics software. Bilingual English/Spanish would be considered an asset.
