CAD Software Developer (NX Customization)

ABOUT THE ROLE

At Optellix, we build CAD automation and 3D visualization software for engineering-heavy industries: oil & gas, aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing. As a CAD Software Developer, you'll write C# and C++ code that plugs into industry-standard CAD platforms like Siemens NX and Creo, or powers our own products such as Xviewr and Xviewr DWI.

You'll ship features to global industrial clients from day one. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone excited to work at the intersection of geometry, algorithms, and real-world engineering problems. If you enjoy code that has to be correct because it moves real machines and real parts, you'll fit right in.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Build custom applications and plug-ins on top of CAD platforms using NX Open API, Creo Toolkit, or similar SDKs

• Extend and maintain our C# / C++ codebases, including the Xviewr desktop application (WPF)

• Design and implement algorithms that respect CAD constraints: parametric modelling, geometry queries, PMI handling, assembly automation

• Take features from client brief to production: understand the requirement, propose an approach, ship it, iterate on feedback

• Debug and resolve issues reported by clients and QA, and improve performance and scalability of existing modules

• Collaborate closely with senior engineers and BD on scoping, estimation, and technical proposals

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Must have

• 2-5 years of hands-on experience in software development, ideally with C# or C++

• Solid grasp of C# and/or C++, including OOP fundamentals, memory management (C++), and modern language features

• Working knowledge of NX Customization (NX Open API) through coursework, internships, or personal projects

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

• Comfort reading unfamiliar code, debugging methodically, and asking sharp questions

• Clear written communication. You'll be documenting decisions and talking to global clients

Nice to have

• Exposure to additional CAD APIs such as Creo Toolkit, SolidWorks API, or OpenCascade

• Experience with WPF, WinForms, or other desktop UI frameworks

• Familiarity with 3D geometry, linear algebra, or computational geometry

• Prior project or internship work involving CAD, CAM, CAE, or 3D visualization

• Git fluency and comfort with typical dev workflows (branching, code review, issue tracking)
