Business System Analyst

Job Title: Business Systems Analyst (Hybrid – Halifax, NS) | Financial Services | Contract Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia (2–3 days onsite) Duration: Contract Employment Type: Contract Work Model: Hybrid We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams. This role will focus on gathering and translating business requirements, analyzing current systems and processes, supporting testing activities, and ensuring technology solutions align with business objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with requirements gathering, SDLC, stakeholder management, JIRA/Confluence, testing/UAT, process mapping, and SQL , preferably within financial services or regulated environments .

Key Responsibilities Business Analysis & Requirements Management Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements Create and maintain Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) Functional Requirements Documents (FRDs) User Stories Process Flows System Interaction Diagrams Data Flow Documentation Translate business requirements into actionable technical specifications for development teams Facilitate workshops and requirement gathering sessions Systems Analysis & Solution Design Analyze existing systems, workflows, and business processes to identify gaps and improvement opportunities Evaluate system capabilities and recommend optimal technology solutions Participate in solution design discussions and support technical decision-making Stakeholder & Project Support Serve as liaison between business teams, technical teams, QA, and project stakeholders Communicate project progress, risks, dependencies, and recommendations Support change management and post-implementation activities Assist with production support and user issue resolution Testing & Quality Assurance Define acceptance criteria and support development of test cases/test scenarios Unit Testing Integration Testing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Validate delivered solutions against business requirements Support issue identification, troubleshooting, and defect resolution Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field 3–5+ years of experience as a: Business Systems Analyst Business Analyst Systems Analyst Technical Business Analyst Strong experience with Requirements gathering & documentation BRD / FRD creation Process mapping SDLC methodologies Testing & UAT support JIRA & Confluence Microsoft Office Suite SQL / database concepts Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills #J-18808-Ljbffr
