Position Summary: The Business Development Specialist acts as a customer liaison, working cross-functionally with internal teams to drive sales, support promotional initiatives, and build long-term business relationships.
The individual in this role monitors and provides recommendations on best practices, technology, and innovation improvements, supporting both the customer and the outside sales team. Key Responsibilities: Respond to inbound Customer and Sales Representative inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate communication. Work with Sales Reps to pursue new business opportunities and upsell products.
Manage customer orders through the sales lifecycle, including quotes, tracking, delivery, product support, and returns. Build relationships with decision makers such as distributors, architects, and project managers. Promote company programs and deliver sales reports and target lists to Sales Representatives.
Coordinate with internal teams, including Quotations, Supply Chain Management, and Engineering, to align customer needs with company requirements. Track leads via the CRM to maximize sales opportunities. Analyze data and report on trends to support territory performance.
Critical Success Factors: Achieve sales targets for the designated territory, products, promotions and business channels. Demonstrate initiative in solving problems and supporting customers, demonstrating urgency and responsiveness in customer communication. Manage inbound leads and project opportunities through HubSpot, ensuring timely first-response communication and follow-through.
Requirements: 2+ years of lighting industry experience, preferably in a remote-sales or call center role. Strong knowledge of innovative lighting products. Ability and willingness for travel to include trade shows and job sites as needed.
Superior customer service skills. Ability to maintain a high level of product knowledge. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and commissions.
Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks with sound judgment in a fast, deadline focused business environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software.
SAP, Zendesk, or HubSpot experience a plus. The expected salary is $66,300 - $68,00. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors allowed by law.
