Business Development Representative – Florida Location: Supporting Stuart and Fort Pierce, FL. Horizon Distributors H801; 3066 Gran Park Way, Stuart, Florida – Horizon Distributors H800; 3605 Oleander, Fort Pierce, Florida. Job Summary The Business Development Representative is the local, on‑site “Business to Business (B2B) sales expert” who drives market performance through consultative, solutions‑based selling and empowers our customers to build and manage successful landscape businesses. Responsibilities Achieve assigned sales, gross margin and customer goals. Treat customers as business partners, recommending product solutions, upsell options and complimentary items to make their jobs easier and more profitable.
Educate customers on our entire product line, promotions, marketing opportunities, services and resources that add value and support sales. Diligently prospect for new customers (landscape construction/maintenance contractors, golf courses, tax‑supported organizations) within a target market. Persistently complete cold calls to seed new business relationships.
Collaborate with team members to meet evolving customer needs by sharing valuable feedback and market intelligence. Maintain a regular follow‑up game plan that results in ongoing development of qualified new business leads and preservation of existing business. Expedite creation and delivery of complete, accurate quotes to customers.
Effectively close sales and ensure deliveries take place as promised. Utilize safe driving skills and habits – always. Support operational and accounts receivable efforts, completing data input, paperwork and internal reports in a timely manner.
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Requirements Minimum of 2 years in B2B sales in a wholesale distribution environment with a proven track record of success. Self‑motivated and capable of planning and prioritizing work.
Excellent cold‑call, negotiation, persuasion and closing skills. Strong product knowledge in one or more of the following: irrigation products, fertilizers/chemicals, landscaping equipment or lighting, outdoor living products. Better‑than‑average skills in leadership, organization, presentation and time management.
Clear communication through spoken and written words; ability to ask questions, think critically and identify solutions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Proficiency in business math (percentages, ratios, discounts, interest, etc.) and ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Strong computer and record‑keeping skills, and aptitude to learn evolving systems, programs, handheld technology and processes. Cooperative, dependable team player. Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record (no more than 2 violations within 3 years) and willingness to travel within designated area.
Occasional lifting/moving up to 75 pounds. High school diploma or GED; 18 years or older to apply. Willingness to help with customer service and order entry when necessary.
