Who we are Whistledown is one of the UK’s leading independent audio production companies, with 20+ years of creating world-class audio content for the BBC, Audible, and other global brands. In 2019 Whistledown Scotland was set up from an office based in Finnieston, Glasgow.

We produce BBC Radio 4's Feedback as well as other programmes and podcasts from our base in Scotland's largest and most creative city. Following funding from the 2026 BBC Small Indie Fund, we are now looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial Business Development Manager to join our small Glasgow team and develop our operations in Scotland. This is a part-time role and the successful candidate will be expected to be in the office two days a week.

The contract is offered for one year at a salary of £19,200. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of a new podcast studio and put Whistledown at the heart of Scotland’s thriving creative economy. Key responsibilities Developing business for Whistledown Scotland’s new podcast studio: you will transform our studio into a profitable business unit.

You will oversee marketing the business to potential clients, streamline operations to minimise operating costs and increase profits, liaise with contractors, and identify diverse revenue streams (eg. dry hire, corporate packages, and visualised podcast productions) Strategic growth: you will identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships and commissions for Whistledown Scotland in order to expand our footprint nationally. You'll be establishing contacts and pitching podcast formats to leading brands, charities, organisations and institutions. Marketing & brand strategy: you will develop and implement marketing campaigns to put Whistledown Scotland on the map.

Social media management: producing high-quality original copy and audio-first content for our social media channels and website to showcase our work in the digital sphere. Person specification Essential criteria includes: 2+ years proven experience of marketing and brand management: a proven track record of executing successful multi-channel marketing campaigns. Experience of project management and scaling small businesses/studios with a focus on lead generation.

Experience of working with brands and corporations and liaising with high-profile clients. A high degree of autonomy. You will be comfortable setting your own goals and working under your own initiative in a fast-paced environment.

Exceptional copywriting skills. Experience managing professional social channels with a focus on community growth and lead generation. Confident use of IT, such as tools like Google Drive, Zoom, Outlook, or equivalent systems.

Desirable but not essential criteria includes: A basic grasp of podcast studio setups (microphones, audio software, acoustics) to help talk clients through their technical needs. A solid understanding of the UK audio and podcasting landscape, including current trends and key players. A "little black book" of contacts within the Scottish creative industries and UK communications professionals.

Experience of event management or organising launch events. This is a Fixed-Term, Part-Time role for 16 hours per week over a period of 12 months . Whistledown Scotland reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
