We proposed, lobbied for, and won Canada’s new Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) legislation in 2024. As the most knowledgeable business service providers in the Canadian employee ownership space, we’re helping mid-sized companies across the country to implement the legislation and transition their businesses to employee-owned.
About the Role We are seeking a passionate full-time Business Development Manager to join our team. This role focuses on identifying business owners interested in selling to their employees and supporting prospective clients who are considering an EOT. This role is one part business development, one part partnership building, and one part promoting the employee ownership movement across the country.
The ideal candidate will have a history of successful business development in the professional services sector, strong networks and relationship-building skills, and outstanding communication skills. Key Responsibilities Business Development Strategy Help design and refine Rewrite’s business development strategy including partnerships, referral networks, partner reward programs, and sponsorships Contribute to the overall strategic development of Rewrite’s products, services, and market positioning Recommend strategic content development to support prospects, partners, and clients Actively improve the company’s processes and services to achieve higher levels of excellence and efficiency in business development and partnerships Pipeline Development & Management Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential EOT candidates Educate and qualify prospects based on financial performance, ownership readiness, and cultural fit Track engagement and conversion metrics using CRM systems Develop targeted outreach strategies for specific industries and geographic markets Collaborate with transaction teams to move qualified prospects through the conversion process Cultivate and maintain client relationships pre-onboarding, during pauses, and post-transaction Market Development & Networking Build deep and trusted relationships with referral sources including banks, wealth managers, accountants, financial advisors, and succession planners Support existing partners with EOT education, training, support, and expertise in EOTs Conduct and support webinars, workshops, and educational events for business owners and other stakeholders Represent the company at industry conferences, business owner events, and professional associations as needed Required Qualifications 6+ years experience in business development in the professional services sector dealing with HNW and UHNW clients, preferably in wealth management, accounting, legal, and private banking Bilingual in French and English and able to work comfortably in either language Proven track record of building business development strategies including partnership networks for referrals Proven track record of sourcing and maintaining client relationships, problem-solving for the client, and generating new business Excellent communication and presentation skills, including written and verbal White-glove service-oriented, loves to help others and takes pride in doing it well, takes ownership for their work and results Strong attention to detail and openness to collaboration with team members and partners Skills and competencies Consultative selling approach with the ability to educate and advise prospects Passionate about building strong relationships and networks Strong analytical skills to assess business suitability for employee ownership Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity Ability to explain complex financial or governance concepts in accessible terms Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage relationships and pipeline Outstanding communication skills, fluent in English and French Strong organizational and project management capabilities Comfort with public speaking and presenting to groups What we offer Competitive salary Comprehensive benefits package A fast-growing company with opportunities for professional development Hybrid work environment and occasional paid travel across Canada Colleagues are an elite team of practitioners who love executional excellence and are pioneers in the EOT space High levels of autonomy and collaboration Real work-life balance and flexibility Mission-driven work environment and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on business owners and employees The opportunity to increase wealth for workers across Canada and contribute to Canadian sovereignty How to apply Please submit your CV and cover letter explaining your passion for employee ownership and relevant business development experience.
