Job Description
Role Overview We are looking for an ambitious and results-driven Business Development Manager to support the continued growth of our Waste Management division. This role is key to expanding our client base, with a particular focus on securing new partnerships with organisations requiring multi-site waste management solutions across the UK. Key Responsibilities Business Growth & Account Development Work closely with the existing waste management team to identify and develop opportunities within the current portfolio.
Drive the expansion of waste management services across new and existing clients nationwide. Client Relationship Management Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships. Develop a deep understanding of client needs and position managed services as tailored solutions.
Consultative Sales Approach Conduct detailed needs assessments and present appropriate service solutions. Collaborate with internal waste account managers to ensure a smooth onboarding process and seamless client experience. Proposal & Tender Management Prepare high-quality, tailored proposals aligned to client requirements.
Support the full sales cycle from initial engagement through to final submission. Negotiation & Deal Closure Address client queries, negotiate commercial terms, and successfully close new business opportunities. Market & Industry Insight Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes to effectively position services.
Networking & Business Development Represent the business at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to build brand presence and generate leads. Collaboration & Delivery Work cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure smooth transition and ongoing service delivery for new clients. Reporting & Forecasting Maintain accurate records of sales activity, pipeline, and revenue forecasts.
Provide regular updates and insights to senior management. Skills & Experience Industry Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, with a solid understanding of the waste management or utilities sector. Client-Focused: Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to understand and respond to client needs.
Results-Driven: Demonstrated success in achieving or exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth. Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver against objectives. Team-Oriented: Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams.
Adaptable: Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving industry environment. Mobility: Willingness to travel regularly between Grantham, Leicester, and client locations.
