Business Development Manager – Industrial Sales

Location: Bristol / South West (Field-Based)

Thorite, part of the Flowtech plc Group, is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive sales growth across the Bristol and South West region.

This is a field-based sales role focused on new business development, key account management, and territory sales growth within the industrial and manufacturing sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding market share by promoting hydraulic systems, pneumatics, compressed air solutions, and fluid power products.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a territory sales plan and key account strategy to achieve revenue and margin targets
• Drive new business development while managing and growing existing industrial customer accounts
• Identify and win opportunities within engineering, manufacturing, and industrial environments
• Build strong relationships with procurement, purchasing, engineering, and maintenance teams
• Prepare and deliver technical sales proposals, quotations, and presentations
• Manage the full sales cycle, from lead generation through to order conversion
• Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline management, and reporting
• Collaborate with internal teams including technical services, engineering, and procurement
• Support larger projects and deliver value-based sales solutions

Requirements

• Proven experience in field sales, business development, or technical sales
• Strong track record of selling into industrial customers or manufacturing environments
• Experience managing a sales territory and delivering against revenue targets
• Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation, and closing skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
• Experience in fluid power, hydraulics, pneumatics, or compressed air systems
• Background in engineering or manufacturing
• Technical or engineering qualification
