My client is a discretionary fund manager that runs evidence based, passive investment portfolios on behalf of financial advisers is looking to bring on board a business development manager Duties Include Actively manage client relationships, taking responsibility for day-to-day project management and delivery of targets, reporting directly to the Head of Business Development. Maintain and grow existing client relationships, ensuring strong retention of clients and funds under management. Drive new business activity and sales for the firm by identifying market opportunities and contributing to the development of sales strategies.

Support colleagues and provide input where required to enable the successful fulfilment of shared business objectives. Proactively contribute to business development by maintaining existing relationships and pitching for new client opportunities. Ensure the delivery of high-quality service and solutions to clients and stakeholders, applying knowledge gained through practical experience and professional training.

Lead sales meetings, develop client relationships, and close new business opportunities. Research and identify new business opportunities, including new markets, growth areas, industry trends, potential clients, partnerships, products, and services, as well as new ways to access existing markets. Generate leads and conduct outreach to prospective clients through targeted cold calling and networking.

Engage with clients through face-to-face meetings, virtual meetings, and telephone discussions. Demonstrate strategic thinking by identifying long-term opportunities and setting clear aims and objectives to support business growth. Undertake strategic planning activities to support the continued development and improvement of the business.

Maintain a strong understanding of the firm’s products and services and be able to communicate their value effectively. Work with the Head of Business Development to formulate strategic and operational objectives. Represent the firm at seminars, conferences, and industry events where appropriate.

Requirements Established relationships with Financial Advisers across the UK or within specific regions. Previous experience in a similar role within an Asset Manager, Discretionary Fund Manager (DFM), Managed Portfolio Service (MPS), investment platform, or experience working as an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Demonstrated track record of developing and maintaining relationships within the IFA market.

Strong academic background with excellent numerical, analytical, and strategic thinking skills. High levels of personal drive and integrity, with the ability to deliver results within tight deadlines. A personable team player capable of building trust and credibility with colleagues and clients.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work. Motivation to develop and progress within an entrepreneurial environment. Excellent communication, organisational, and technical skills.

Technical investment knowledge across multiple asset classes is advantageous. Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative. Relevant professional qualifications (CII/PFS Level 4 qualification preferred).
