The Opportunity We’re looking for a talented Bid Manager to join our Central Bid Team, playing a key role in shaping and securing exciting opportunities across our Infrastructure and Buildings business. About The Role As a key member of the Central Bid Team, the Bid Manager drives successful work winning across our Infrastructure and Buildings business. Working closely with the Senior Bid Manager and guided by the Head of Bids, the role brings enthusiasm, a proactive mindset, structure, and creativity to each opportunity.
It offers the chance to shape a diverse portfolio of regional and national bids across both public and private sectors in the UK, build strong relationships, elevate bid quality, and position the company for success in a competitive market. The Bid Manager leads bids end‑to‑end, partnering closely with the Bid Director to shape compelling, winning solutions. They challenge and support business leads and technical SMEs, focus on rigour and consistency, embed best‑practice processes, manage EOIs, SQs, ITTs, and support interview and presentation stages.
Your Impact Pre‑Bid Familiarise self with the client portal for bid release and upload protocols. Work with business leads to ensure CRM tool entries reflect accurate bid status. Drive discussions on teaming or supply chain partners.
Follow global governance processes throughout decision stages. Capture proposition/win themes prior to kick‑off. Work with the assigned Bid Writer to determine if a bid‑writing style guide or bespoke training is needed.
Throughout The Bid Organise or download tender documents and distribute to core bid team. Ensure all client documentation has been received, read, and understood. Digest and understand question/scoring mechanisms.
Drive the Go/No‑Go assessment meeting with Bid Director(s) and business leads. Analyse client requirements, deliverables, deadlines, and question owners to build the bid programme. Collaborate with the bid team to identify key discriminators, USPs, and value points.
Diarise, facilitate, and lead the Bid Kick‑off meeting. Agree on the response template structure. Create templates, CVs, case studies.
Estimate resources for bid writing and graphics; engage the Central Bid Team to secure resources. Manage the collaborative working platform (SharePoint/Teams) and enforce folder structures and version control. Plan logistics for face‑to‑face workshops and meetings.
Gather and issue clarifications to the client. Drive actions across contributors according to the Bid Plan. Own and update the Bid Plan, monitor and report weekly progress.
Ensure commercial and contracts information is extracted and routed appropriately. Monitor client portal and communicate clarifications. Facilitate storyboard workshops.
Work with Bid Writer on author support needs. Prepare and format proposal documents in line with brand guidelines. Ensure documents are visually appealing and meet client restrictions.
Create and source visual graphics for responses. Manage bid writing, collation, and review programme. Organise meetings, issue clear instructions, and enforce version control.
Drive solution development discussions. Engage with the Commercial Manager for commercial submission input. Take lead in ensuring content compliance, quality checks, and readiness for upload.
Close out actions from commercial sign‑off meeting. Upload submission following the compliance checklist. Follow CRM guidance on submitted bids.
Post Bid Monitor portal and act on further clarifications or requests from the client. Prepare for and agree with Bid Director on post‑bid negotiations. Lead and manage an internal lesson‑learned workshop and disseminate feedback.
Engage the Central Bid Team to capture new content for the content library. Analyse and cascade client feedback. Schedule a formal client debrief meeting.
About You Experience in a previous bidding/business development role. Understanding of the bid process and bid team dynamics. Strong time and project management skills with ability to prioritise.
Problem‑solving and lessons‑learnt attitude. Experience with electronic portals. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external clients.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Advanced Microsoft skills (Office 365). Previous experience in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign/Illustrator) and creative flair for infographics.
Detail‑oriented and diligent approach. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple conflicting deadlines. A self‑starter with a ‘can‑do’ attitude.
Must be flexible around working hours to support strict bid timetables.
