Bench Joiner

Major Recruitment are recruiting a Bench Joiner to join a busy manufacturing team in Hyde.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous bench joinery or woodworking experience who takes pride in producing high quality work.

We are keen to speak with Skilled or Semi Skilled Bench Joiners or experienced Assembly Operatives who are proficient in the use of tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Manufacture and assemble wooden products from technical drawings.
• Measure, mark out, and cut materials accurately.
• Operate workshop machinery to cut and prepare wood and metal components.
• Assemble products using hand and power tools, including battery drills, mallets, spanners, files, tape measures, and set squares.
• Fit fixtures and fittings to completed products.
• Read and interpret technical and engineering drawings.
• Carry out quality checks to ensure finished products meet specifications.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop.

Skills & Experience

• Confident using a wide range of hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and work from technical drawings.
• Strong measuring and marking-out skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience operating woodworking machinery; experience with metal cutting machinery is advantageous.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Working Hours & Benefits

• Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm.
• 40 hours per week.
• One 30-minute unpaid lunch break plus two paid 15-minute breaks each day.
• 13.50 per hour rising once employed on a permanent contract.
• Opportunity for long term, permanent employment.
