Project Overview & Engagement Profile Core Bazel team Project scope The project focuses on delivering a blend of consultancy, migration and working on open source related to Bazel. Members of the team work on short and medium-length projects around Bazel and, at some point, become the founding members of longer-lived teams. Deliverables encompass: Executing smooth Bazel migrations Promoting Bazel ecosystems and engineering expertise through technical conferences, meetups, blog posts, and social media channels – only if you feel comfortable with it.
Developing high-quality open-source and internal solutions tailored to Bazel Supporting pre-sales activities and strategic technical consultancy Developing and delivering training sessions and mentoring engineering teams – only if you feel comfortable with it. Tech stack Bazel, Starlark, Python Project Challenges The engagement is a part of the group that solves problems too hard for the client’s own team, even backed by LLMs. Works spans multiple ecosystems, codebase sizes, and setup quality – from helping startups to working on work-class Bazel builds (like those at Airbnb, Databricks, or Uber).
It requires driving technical initiatives and applying creative problem-solving approaches. Team An elite engineering squad consisting of 10 Bazel Experts across various short and mid-term projects. Required Expertise & Competencies Track record in developing solutions around build tools, maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines, or optimising SDLC processes Expertise in Bazel (preferred) or other build tools Interest in build systems, SDLC, and developer tooling in general Proficiency in at least one software ecosystem (JVM, Rust, Go, TypeScript, C++ or similar) Excellent communication skills combined with a pragmatic approach to technical problem-solving Proactive approach to blocker resolution and collaborative technical alignment High autonomy in task execution and output delivery Public speaking, technical blogging, and community engagement experience are significant assets, alongside strong mentoring and knowledge-sharing capabilities Don’t worry if you don’t meet all the requirements.
