Banksman

Our client, based in East Belfast is seeking a Banksman for an immediate vacancy.

Hours of work

Monday to Friday 6am to 3pm

Rate of Pay

£17-£18 per hour

Key responsibilities

• Direct vehicle movements guide HGVs, forklifts, reversing vehicles and other mobile plant using agreed hand signals or communication systems.
• Control reversing operations position themselves where they can see the vehicle and the surrounding area while remaining in a safe location.
• Check the area is clear make sure pedestrians, other vehicles, equipment and obstructions are out of the vehicles path before movement begins.
• Communicate clearly with drivers use standard signals, radios or other approved communication methods.
• Stop the vehicle if necessary have the authority to give a clear stop signal whenever they see a danger or lose sight of the driver/vehicle.
• Protect pedestrians help maintain separation between people and moving vehicles, and prevent pedestrians from entering vehicle operating areas.
• Follow the site traffic management plan use designated routes, exclusion zones, loading/unloading areas and speed limits.
• Inspect the working area identify hazards such as poor visibility, uneven ground, obstacles, overhead services or changing site conditions.
• Report hazards and incidents inform the supervisor of unsafe conditions, near misses, damage or accidents.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience of working as a Banksman
• An experienced Yard Operative will be considered with Banksman training provided
