Overview

In this role you join an experienced HIV psychology team to provide specialist assessment, formulation and treatment. You will lead the HIV psychology service within care pathways, including supervision and line management, and work autonomously within guidelines. You will deliver therapy for HIV management, adherence, prevention, and for associated mental health concerns, while supporting the multidisciplinary team through consultation and training.

You will contribute to audit, research and service development, shaping care for people living with HIV.

Responsibilities
  • Provide highly specialist psychological assessments for HIV patients, integrating complex information
  • Formulate and deliver evidence-based psychological treatments and management plans across settings
  • Make expert decisions on interventions considering models, developmental and medical factors
  • Provide specialist psychological advice and contribute to patient formulation and treatment planning
  • Undertake risk assessment and provide guidance to psychologists and other clinicians
  • Communicate complex information to patients, families and professionals, and monitor progress
  • Deliver psychological support to newly diagnosed patients and provide HIV transmission prevention advice
  • Contribute to teaching, training, audit, service development and research
  • Disseminate psychological knowledge within the HIV care team and externally, including at conferences
Key requirements
  • Substantial experience as a qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologist
  • Experience with diverse patient groups across life course and care settings
  • Ability to lead and supervise within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in teaching, training and professional supervision
  • Experience in management, recruitment, supervision, HR management and policy development
  • Experience applying psychology in different cultural contexts
  • Current UK professional registration
  • Leadership and management ability
  • Effective written and oral communication of complex information
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage emotive situations
  • Complex psychological assessment and intervention
  • Formulation and risk assessment
  • Knowledge of lifespan development and psychopathology
