Title: Automation Engineer/Electrical Project Engineer

Job Type: Direct Hire/Permanent opening

Location: Sussex, WI

Salary: $100,000-$125,000+

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience preferred but not required.
  • At least 6-10 years of total experience and 2-3 years of experience leading projects yourself
  • Experience designing and implementing industrial automation and control systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control panel design, wiring, and commissioning procedures.
  • Knowledge of UL508A, NEC, NFPA standards, along with electrical calculations and component sizing.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and SolidWorks Electrical is preferred.
  • At least working knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs, FactoryTalk View, PowerFlex drives, and/or Kinetix servo systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking, motion control, and safety systems.
  • Troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead automation projects from initial concept through commissioning, ensuring schedule, budget, and customer requirements are met.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, and bills of material using AutoCAD Electrical and SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Perform electrical design calculations such as conductor sizing, circuit protection, and power distribution.
  • Configure and troubleshoot automation hardware including servo drives, PowerFlex drives, and related systems.
  • Develop and modify PLC programs, HMI applications, safety systems, and motion control systems
  • Review and update electrical documentation to reflect design changes and as-built machine configurations
