Associate General Counsel – Commercial Contracting

Lateral Link is conducting an exclusive search for an Associate General Counsel – Commercial Contracting on behalf of a sophisticated, fast-paced public company operating in the renewable energy sector.

This is a high-impact legal leadership role for a senior attorney who thrives at the intersection of commercial strategy, procurement, supply chain, and cross-functional business partnership. The position offers the opportunity to play a central role in supporting a growing business, shaping contracting processes, and leading a small team of legal and contracting professionals.

The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience drafting and negotiating complex procurement contracts, supply agreements, Master Service Agreements, and volume commitment arrangements, along with the judgment and business orientation to advise internal stakeholders in a dynamic operating environment.

What You’ll Do

• Draft, negotiate, and advise on complex supply agreements and procurement contracts
• Partner closely with business teams, including sales and procurement, on strategic commercial matters
• Help develop, refine, and implement internal legal policies and contracting procedures
• Lead and mentor a team of 3 contracting professionals, including attorneys
• Support a fast-moving business with practical, solutions-oriented legal guidance
• Contribute to the legal function’s broader strategic objectives in a public company setting

What We’re Looking For

• J.D. and active bar admission in good standing
• 8+ years of relevant legal experience
• Significant experience with commercial contracting, including procurement and supply-side agreements
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and issue-spotting skills
• Ability to work effectively across multiple business functions in a fast-paced environment
• Sound judgment, strong ethics, and a practical, business-minded approach

Preferred Background

• Experience in both a law firm and in-house legal department
• Familiarity with renewable energy contracting
• Working knowledge of the Inflation Reduction Act and related legal/commercial considerations
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
• Ability to develop legal strategy while remaining highly execution-oriented
• Creative and thoughtful problem-solving skills
• Based in Chandler, Arizona
• This role may require some evening and weekend availability
