Role Summary:

We are seeking an Associate Architect to support the design, technical development, and documentation of architectural projects from Design Development through Construction Administration. This entry-level role provides an opportunity to work alongside experienced architects and project teams while gaining hands-on experience in BIM-based project delivery, construction documentation, and multidisciplinary coordination.

The successful candidate will contribute to the preparation of architectural drawings, BIM models, and coordinated project deliverables while learning industry best practices and Suffolk's design-build approach. The Associate Architect will support project teams in translating design intent into accurate and constructable documentation while maintaining quality and project standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support project teams throughout design and construction phases.
  • Develop and maintain BIM models and project documentation under supervision.
  • Assist in preparing architectural drawings, schedules, and technical details.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary coordination activities.
  • Support document production and construction documentation efforts.
  • Assist with design reviews, technical studies, and project research.
  • Coordinate assigned tasks with project team members and consultants.
  • Support QA/QC processes and adherence to project standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Learn and apply Suffolk project delivery standards and BIM best practices.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Proficiency in Revit, ACC, (Sketchup, Rhino, Grasshopper, Lumion-Preferred)
  • Prepare architectural plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules.
  • Assist in the development of BIM models and project documentation.
  • Support coordination of architectural designs with structural and MEP disciplines.
  • Assist in producing construction documents and technical packages.
  • Ensure assigned work complies with project standards, codes, and design intent.
  • Support faade, interior, and building systems documentation efforts.
  • Participate in model reviews and coordination meetings.
  • Assist during construction administration by responding to documentation updates and project requirements.

Project Scope:

Architectural projects requiring design support, BIM modeling, technical documentation, and coordination assistance under the guidance of senior architects and project leadership.

Decision-Making Authority:

Performs assigned project tasks and technical deliverables under the direction and supervision of senior team members.

Client Interaction:

Limited interaction with clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders as part of project coordination activities.

People Responsibility:

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Professional degree in Architecture required.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of professional architectural experience.
  • Internship or professional experience in architectural design and documentation preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Revit and BIM-based workflows.
  • Understanding of architectural drafting, modeling, and documentation.
  • Basic knowledge of building systems, construction methods, and detailing.
  • Familiarity with construction documentation processes.
  • Understanding of building codes, accessibility requirements, and industry standards.
  • Knowledge of visualization and digital design tools is an advantage.
  • Strong design, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
