Assistant Engineer

Rhomberg Sersa Ireland (RSIE) specialises in the rail industry. A member of the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group (RSRG), we deliver Railway Operation, Maintenance and Construction services to the Irish market, primarily via the operation of On Track Machines (OTMs) on behalf of Irish Rail.

Job Description

The successful candidate will hold a Degree in Civil Engineering along with a minimum of 2 years work experience and a broad interest in modern mechanised infrastructure construction methods. This will include technology led alignment control, quality assurance and asset management systems.

It is anticipated that the ideal candidate will progress quickly into autonomous technical management positions within <5 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day to day technical management of alignment control in support of track maintenance activities.
  • Client liaison including works planning, technical brief analysis and communication, works support and reporting.
  • Quality management including data gathering and analysis, and management of high value equipment.
  • Assistance in preparing technical and commercial submissions for future tenders.

Qualification Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Full Clean Driving Licence to be able to drive company vehicles
  • IT / Technology Proficiencies
  • 2 years work experience

Desirable experience, skills and qualifications

  • Familiarity with modern land surveying methods, equipment and functional outputs (e.g. GNSS based survey control networks, LIDAR scanning, BIM/digital twinning)
  • Extra curricular interests and activities demonstrating commitment, teamwork and social responsibility.

Total Compensation €55k

(includes salary €50k, company van, fuel card and company pension)
