The Role:
The Asset Management and Sustainability area is responsible for the development of asset policies, strategies and plans to determine the significant investment required into Ireland’s infrastructure. The area drives investment and the Sustainability and Innovation agenda for the organisation and leads on Environmental Regulation and Compliance activities, ensuring the quality of water and wastewater is continuously monitored. The Asset Management function is responsible for strategic planning, prioritisation, and development of Uisce Éireann’s Capital Works pipeline.
The function plays a key role in promoting collaboration and co-ordination of activities across the three asset functions as well as providing environmental assessment and management expertise across Uisce Éireann.
The Asset Strategy Team’s responsibility is to develop strategic plans for all water, wastewater and natural assets and to ensure the authorisation of the asset base. The scope of the team's responsibility covers 5 main areas: environmental strategy, water asset strategy, wastewater asset strategy, forward planning and planning strategy.
Reporting to the Asset Strategy Technical Lead, the Asset Strategy Analyst is responsible for supporting the Forward Planning team with calculating, forecasting and reducing water services demand through the analysis of enterprise & spatial data to feed into capital investment scoping and prioritization, as well as in relation to the company’s interaction with the statutory planning system. The role may include working closely with third parties to develop plans which in turn deliver services for Uisce Éireann and will also involve assessments and decision making in relation to system capacity to support growth.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the Forward Planning team in the analysis of national, regional and local spatial planning and economic plans to ensure Uisce Éireann growth policies align with statutory planning policy
Manage incoming data from the forward planning interface and leverage this data to contribute to short, medium and long term growth planning and forecasting in conjunction with calculating current demand
Deliver data and reports to support critical decisions regarding Uisce Éireann’s investment for growth
Manage consultants delivering outputs on water balance and wastewater headroom calculations
Influence stakeholders on approaches to calculating and forecasting water services demand
Conduct analysis on the alignment between current and proposed plans against long-term UE and National strategic plans.
Provide reports and insights by collating and clearly presenting the relevant information in a timely manner
Conduct analysis of trends and data to identify and elevate relevant issues or risks
Ensure that all plans, projects, and programmes are delivered in accordance with the relevant EU and National environmental legislation and all Uisce Éireann environmental policies and guidance.
Contribute to setting the team objectives and targets
Perform other such duties in relation to work and asset management as Uisce Éireann may reasonably require
General Duties and Responsibilities
Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business
Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards
Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives
Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation
Other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Relevant third level qualification and or accreditation is desirable and or relevant experience (e.g. spatial/data planning, engineering, geography)
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable
Ability to develop effective partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders and ability to look for and listen to diverse perspectives.
Competency and experience in using GIS and associated enterprise systems is essential.
Strong data manipulation and analysis skills and the ability to identify and analyse problems and make decisions that benefit the team/communities
Experience in population forecasting, demographic analysis and statistical modelling to support growth planning and infrastructure investment decisions would be desirable.
Highly motivated individual, proven track record in identifying opportunities for process improvements and innovation
Proven track record in resolving complex issues, along with the ability to communicate information to others
Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to change focus and direction in line with business strategy and requirements
Experience in taking ownership of safety responsibilities and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
