Join our highly skilled team as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and contribute to the safe and efficient daily maintenance on our fleet of aircraft – Boeing 787, 737 NG, 737 MAX, and De Havilland Dash 8‑400 (Q400). You will work in a fast‑paced environment with a dynamic team using your troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills while making safety a top priority. WestJet offers industry‑leading wages and benefits ACA Premiums starting at 7%, increasing 1% every 3 years to a maximum of 11% Night Shift Premium of $2.00/hour Fuel Tank Entry Premium of $7.00/hour Overtime pay of 1.5 for the initial 8 hours of overtime and 1.75 for time beyond the initial 8 hours (within a pay period) AOG Pay of 1.5 for duration of AOG trips (including non‑working hours) Our WestJet Savings Plan includes a company match of 20% with options to contribute to an RRSP, TFSA or Cash Savings Plan, providing flexibility and choice based on employees’ individual investing goals Travel Privileges including standby and confirmed flights for you and a travel partner as well as companion passes and discounts on vacation packages Comprehensive, flexible Employee Benefits including primary and extended health coverage, prescriptions, dental and vision care, basic life insurance and ADD, STD and LTD coverage (additional options available for enhanced coverage) PPE Allowance, Tool Allowance and Uniform Allotment Profit Share and Owner’s Performance Award A 5‑5‑4 rotation schedule consisting of day, afternoons and night shifts (shift bidding based on seniority) Technical Training and Career Advancement opportunities allow you to grow your career within our Technical Operations Department A fun and friendly culture with the opportunity to work alongside some of the best AME’s in the industry Requirements Valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineering License required (M2 preferred) Minimum 2 years’ experience and/or endorsed on Boeing 737 and/or 787 and/or Q400, or equivalent type of aircraft is preferred Proven technical aptitude with strong airframe, powerplant, and flight control experience required Legally entitled to work in Canada (must hold a Canadian Passport or Permanent Residency and/or open work permit with PR card in process) Must be able to obtain Radio Licence within 6 months of employment The physical ability to lift 62 lbs and be able to sit, kneel and stand for extended periods of time Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions including temperature extremes, confined spaces, working at heights and in a noisy workspace Ability to maintain a positive fit test to wear all safety and protective equipment including (but not limited) to a respirator apparatus Flexibility to work shift work (night shifts, weekends and holidays) including overtime when necessary Must be able to travel for situations where base coverage and/or rescue trips are required Strong computer knowledge and skills using various Maintenance tracking programs and Microsoft Office Applications Conditions of Employment Obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) issued by Transport Canada Obtain and maintain Airside Vehicle Operators Permits (AVOP). Must have a valid Driver’s Licence and a clean driver’s abstract Complete a pre‑employment assessment to measure physical ability and fitness for the position including audiometric testing Produce a clear police background and criminal record check Pass a pre‑employment alcohol and drug screening test for substances including Alcohol, Psychoactive Substances, Illicit Drugs and Cannabis Our safety promise At WestJet, the safety and security of our people and our guests is a core value and the heart of what we do.
