Why this role exists: The Advanced Analytics Manager leads the specialist analytics capability that helps the business make better, faster and more evidence-based decisions. The role is responsible for leading a team across data science, data analysis, analytics engineering and reporting support. It ensures analytics work is technically sound, commercially relevant, well-governed and translated into practical business outcomes.

The role works closely with business partners, process improvement teams, data and technology teams, and business stakeholders to deliver analytics products, models, dashboards and insights that improve performance, reduce manual effort and support priority initiatives. Where you will make a difference: In this role you will: Analytics Leadership: Lead a multidisciplinary team of Data Scientists, Data Analysts, and Power BI Developers to deliver high-quality analytic products. Provide expert guidance on business analysis best practices, ensuring all technical solutions are grounded in clear business logic and requirements.

Coach the team in analytical problem solving, data interpretation, visualisation, storytelling and stakeholder communication. Build team capability in data science, analytics engineering, reporting automation, insight generation and decision support. Allocate analytics capability to priority initiatives based on business need, complexity, value and available capacity.

Advanced Analytics & Model Delivery: Drive and manage the delivery of advanced analytics, data science and modelling initiatives that support business priorities. Guide the use of appropriate analytical methods, including segmentation, forecasting, optimisation, experimentation, predictive modelling and machine learning. Ensure models and analytical approaches are robust, explainable, tested, documented and fit for business use.

Support the development of reusable models, metrics, analytical assets and data products that can scale across teams and functions. Ensure analytical outputs are linked to clear decisions, actions or performance outcomes. Support the Data Platform team in their objectives for excellence across optimization, operations and integrity of the Officeworks Data and Analytics Platform.

Analytics Engineering, Reporting and Self-Service: Lead analytics engineering practices that turn trusted data into reusable datasets, metrics and analytical assets. Oversee reporting and dashboard capability where required, ensuring outputs are accurate, consistent, easy to use and aligned to business definitions. Lead improvements of self-service maturity by reducing manual reporting, increasing automation and creating reusable analytics assets.

Partner with data and technology teams to ensure analytics products are built on trusted data, clear definitions and appropriate quality controls. Squad and Initiative Support: Work with the Analytics and Data & AI teams as needed to understand the needs of the business and translate into potential new use cases by defining the problem statement, business case, hypothesis to be tested and target function. Provide specialist analytics capability to cross-functional squads and priority business initiatives.

Partner with Analytics Business Partners and Business Analysis & Process Improvement teams to ensure analytics work is grounded in clear business questions and measurable outcomes. Ensure the right mix of data science, analysis, analytics engineering and reporting support is applied to each initiative. Support the transition of analytics products, models and dashboards into BAU with clear documentation, ownership and support arrangements.

Process & Continuous Improvement: Drive commercial acumen through the Hub team with a focus on delivering value for OW customers, team members, suppliers and shareholders. Champion a culture of continuous improvement, identifying and eliminating manual inefficiencies within the data and analytics lifecycle. Challenge the status quo of existing workflows, leveraging technology to transition from manual execution to automated, intelligence-supported models.

Monitor service outcomes and recurring delivery issues, implementation improvements to the systems lifecycle to enhance speed and quality. Ensure that process improvements are grounded in data, using People and operational analytics to validate effectiveness. Governance & Risk Management: Ensure all sensitive data is managed in strict accordance with Officeworks security and privacy policies.

Maintain appropriate documentation, testing, validation, version control and change control for analytics products, models and dashboards. Work with internal teams and external partners where required to ensure analytics delivery meets agreed quality, risk and governance expectations. Monitor analytical quality, recurring delivery issues and stakeholder feedback to improve delivery standards.

Ensure analytical assumptions, limitations and risks are clearly documented and communicated. Promote responsible and ethical use of data, analytics and AI-enabled insights. Who you will be working with: Executive Leadership: Working with Officeworks Leadership Team members to align analytics with corporate strategy.

Internal Delivery Teams: Collaborating with Technology and Data hubs to ensure platform resilience and scalability. External Partners: Managing relationships with third-party analytical support providers and digital agencies. What success looks like: Commercial Impact: Analytics are consistently utilised by the OLT to drive workforce planning and commercial decision-making.

Operational Efficiency: Quantifiable reduction in manual processing through the successful deployment of automated and agentic solutions. Technical Integrity: An impeccable record of data accuracy and compliance across all financial and operational reporting. Capability Excellence: High engagement and strong leadership pipeline within the Data Science and Analysis teams.

Experience: 12+ years of progressive experience in Data Science, BI, or Analytics, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.

Leadership: Proven leader capable of managing multidisciplinary technical teams (Data Scientists, Developers, and Analysts). Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in HRIS/ERP platforms, AWS/Snowflake, Power BI, and query languages (SQL). Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to translate complex human capital and operational data into compelling commercial narratives.

Preferred: Advanced Qualifications: MBA or Masters degree in Data Science, Digital Transformation, or a related discipline. Specialised Certifications: Professional certification in Agile methodologies, Lean Six Sigma, or AI/ML applications. Retail Context: Previous experience in high-volume, omnichannel retail or complex consumer-facing environments.
