GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB:
The Adult Learning Institute (ALI) is seeking an experienced instructor to lead a comprehensive training course for individuals interested in or currently working as teacher aides (paraprofessionals) in K-12 educational settings. This course is designed to equip adult learners with the essential knowledge, practical skills, and professional demeanor necessary to effectively support diverse learners and licensed teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- K-12 Teaching License or Adult Education Credential (e.g., Cert IV / State Certification where required).
- 3+ years working in K-12 classrooms with diverse learners, IEPs, and ELL students.
- 1-3 years instructing or mentoring adult learners in vocational, college, or community settings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Key instructional areas include the roles and responsibilities of a paraprofessional, classroom organization and management, effective communication, supporting diverse learners (e.g., students with disabilities, English language learners), an introduction to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans, behavior management strategies, basic instructional support techniques, communicating with nonverbal students, and ethical and legal considerations in education.
- The instructor will be responsible for preparing adult learners to confidently contribute to a positive and effective classroom environment.
SALARY:
$40-$45 per hour (depending on experience)
