Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles, particularly in accounts payable processes. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely payments to vendors.

The Accounts Payable Specialist will work closely with various departments to facilitate smooth financial operations and support overall organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable transactions accurately and in a timely manner, including invoice verification and payment processing.
• Maintain vendor relationships by addressing inquiries and resolving discrepancies.
• Perform account reconciliations, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including analysis of accounts payable aging.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations in all financial activities.
• Utilize accounting software such as Yardi for data entry and transaction processing.
• Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations regarding accounts payable transactions.

Requirements

• Proven experience in accounts payable or corporate accounting roles.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as Yardi or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, account reconciliation, and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with public accounting or non-profit accounting is a plus.
• Excellent data entry skills with proficiency in 10 key typing.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
