Accounts Assistant

Job Description
Accounts Assistant
I’m currently working on an Accounts Assistant opportunity with a well-established professional services business, offering a great opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their accounting career.
The role would suit someone with around a year or more of accounts experience who wants to broaden their responsibilities, gain exposure to different areas of finance and continue developing professionally.
What you’ll be involved in
You’ll have the opportunity to get involved across a broad range of accounting and finance activities, including:
- Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Processing journals, payments and client account transactions
- Supporting VAT and tax-related work
- Assisting with financial reporting and year-end accounts
- Supporting the external audit process
- Preparing regular financial reports
- Providing support to the Accounts Payable team when required
- Getting involved in accounting system projects and implementations
- Carrying out financial analysis and wider ad hoc accounting work
What they’re looking for
They’re looking for someone who is organised, accurate and proactive, with a genuine interest in developing their accounting career.
You’ll ideally have:
- Around 1+ year of accounts experience
- Good Excel and general IT skills
- A strong eye for detail and an organised approach
- The confidence to work across different areas of finance
- A willingness to learn and take on additional responsibility
Experience within a law firm or professional services environment would be advantageous, but isn’t essential — a solid grounding in accounts and the right attitude are the key requirements.
Why consider it?
This is a good opportunity for someone who doesn't want to be limited to one area of accounts. You’ll gain broad exposure across the finance function, work alongside an experienced team and have the opportunity to build your technical knowledge and progress towards professional accounting qualifications.
If you’re looking for a role where you can develop your experience rather than simply process the same tasks day in, day out, this could be a really good next step.
