About the role

The Finance Team are currently seeking self-motivated and skilled individual to join our Financial Services & Rates business unit in an Accounting Officer - Accounts Payable position.

This position requires someone that is highly organised, and a good communicator with a skill set that enables responses to financial inquiries. It requires a high degree of confidentiality and in-depth knowledge of the business processes within Financial Services and Rates and across the organisation.

Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to;

• Maintain the City of Swan's Accounts Payable process.
• Provide an administrative and accounting service for expenditure functions in accordance with the requirements of the section.
• Assist in the review and re-engineering of existing business processes and in the development of new processes, as well as assist in the analysis of and reporting on business performance.
• Responsible for Councillor’s payment reconciliation using Project ledger.
• Provide support to City staff on queries related to payment of invoices, purchase orders and supplier registrations.

About you

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Certificate IV or Basic accounting (TAFE or equivalent)
• 1-2 years experience as a finance officer
• Ability to apply general accounting concepts
• Create and use financial and statistical data
• Basic understanding of Australian Taxation, including GST, PAYG and FBT
• A satisfactory National Police Certificate is required.

The salary

for this position will be from $72,362.16 to $87,036.08 per annum depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
