Job Summary The Manager of Accounting is responsible for leading and managing a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective accounting practices. This position emphasizes strategic oversight, team development, and collaboration with other departments to align accounting functions with the institution's financial goals. Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of accounting professionals by establishing performance expectations, conducting regular evaluations, and providing mentorship to enhance team capabilities and productivity.
Collaborate with senior leadership and other departments to align accounting functions with broader organizational strategies and financial goals while ensuring support for institutional priorities. Perform other duties as assigned. Develop and implement strategic initiatives for the accounting department by aligning goals with the organization's financial objectives and ensuring that resources are allocated effectively.
Foster a collaborative team environment by promoting open communication and encouraging knowledge sharing among team members to enhance overall departmental performance. Monitor and evaluate team performance metrics by analyzing reports and identifying areas for improvement, ensuring that accounting processes are efficient and effective. Advocate for necessary resources and tools for the accounting team by preparing proposals and presenting them to senior leadership to secure funding and support for departmental initiatives.
Conduct regular team meetings to provide updates on departmental goals, share best practices, and address any challenges faced by team members in their roles. Prepare and present comprehensive reports to senior leadership on the status of the accounting department, including achievements, challenges, and recommendations for future improvements. Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in accounting practices by participating in professional organizations and attending relevant conferences to enhance the overall effectiveness of the accounting function.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent related experience. 5+ years of relevant experience; 3+ years of supervisory knowledge. Preferred Educational Qualifications Master's degree in a related discipline or equivalent related experience. Additional Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of experience with state contracting.
Experience with inter‑departmental billing. Experience maintaining an external financial database. Experience assisting IT in database overhauls from a financial perspective.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities This job requires working knowledge and skills in event management, including customer service, organizing, planning and scheduling. Use of business‑related computer applications is required. Other Information This is a supervisory position.
This position does have financial responsibilities. This position will not be required to drive. This role is considered a position of trust.
This position does not require a purchasing card (P‑Card). This position will not travel. This position does not require security clearance.
This position is located in Atlanta, GA. Salary Salary range is dependent on candidate experience and skills, ranging from $80,000 to $90,000. The position is at Salary Job Grade A11.
