In this role, you won't just be recording transactions—you will serve as a vital link between corporate accounting, construction development, and operational success. What You'll Do
- Core Accounting: Execute full-cycle accounting activities across multiple entities, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Development & Project Support: Monitor and reconcile development project budgets, track variances, and prepare monthly cost-recovery reports.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, featuring clear variance and ratio analysis for the Board and funders.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Partner with department leads to build annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, integrating capital and operating projections.
- Audit & Compliance: Act as the main point of contact for external auditors, build year-end audit packages, and file regulatory returns (HST/GST, payroll taxes).
- System & Process Improvement: Drive internal initiatives to upgrade financial reporting, strengthen controls, and optimize our Yardi system integration.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Provide actionable financial insights and support to property management and site teams to keep operations aligned.
What You Bring
- Education: University degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of progressive accounting or financial analysis experience
- Experience within Real Estate, Construction, or Not-for-Profit environments would be ideal but not required.
- Technical Mastery: Advanced MS Excel skills; hands-on experience with Yardi software is a major asset.
- Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and relevant legislation (RTA, AODA, etc.).
- Communication & Mobility: Strong stakeholder communication skills and the flexibility to travel within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) as needed.
