Job Description
Talent Quarter, a leading mid-sized, national health care recruitment specialist company, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our finance team on a 12 month full time contract covering a period of maternity leave, with a view to permanent.
This is a hands-on role within a lean, high-performing finance function, suited to a detail-focused accountant who enjoys broad exposure across financial accounting, management reporting and multi-state compliance.
About the role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with our Senior Management Accountant, you will:
- Own the month end close, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation and payroll related journals
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities and cost centres, clearing reconciling items promptly
- Prepare monthly management accounts and variance analysis against budget
- Deliver weekly margin reporting to support commercial decision making
- Maintain the general ledger and the integrity of financial data across the group
- Support statutory compliance including BAS, payroll tax and workers compensation lodgements across multiple states
- Assist with the year end audit, including preparation of audit schedules and liaison with external auditors
- Support AR and AP functions and contribute to system, process and reporting improvement
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis to the CFO and Senior Management Accountant
About you
You are a capable, detail-focused accountant who takes ownership of your work and communicates clearly with people outside of finance.
You will bring:
- CA or CPA qualification, or actively working towards qualification
- 2 to 3 years' experience in a financial or management accounting role
- Strong knowledge of month end close, balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger management
- Experience with cloud-based accounting systems such as Xero and strong Excel skills. Power BI proficiency is advantageous
- Exposure to payroll tax, workers compensation or other multi-state compliance obligations is highly regarded
- High attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Experience in the service, recruitment, labour hire or healthcare sector is desirable but not essential
