Accountant - Finance

Location: Sydney, New South Wales Employment Type: Full-time - Permanent Role

The Opportunity

Our client is a well-established, faith-based organisation with a strong commitment to its values and mission. An opportunity is available for an experienced Accountant to join the Finance team and take ownership of the financial accounting and reporting for a portfolio of designated entities. This is a varied role covering full general ledger ownership, financial accounting, management reporting, budgeting, analysis and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the general ledger for designated entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Maintain accurate accounts and complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage accruals, capital works accounting and financial reporting.
• Prepare annual statutory financial statements and required government reporting.
• Assist with BAS and FBT reporting.
• Prepare monthly management reports and provide insightful commentary on financial performance and variances.
• Assist with annual budgeting and financial analysis.
• Liaise with external auditors and provide required working papers.
• Review and approve Accounts Payable transactions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the Finance team.
• Work closely with leadership, Business Partners and administration teams to provide meaningful financial insight.

About You - You will ideally have:

• CA or CPA qualification.
• Strong technical accounting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated experience owning and managing a full general ledger.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to explain complex financial information clearly.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with a large ERP system.
• A willingness to support and align with the organisation's values and mission.
