Job Description

We are looking for an Accountant to join our office in Madrid.

Your role is to support the accounting and finance requirements of our Spain & UK operations. You will be the primary point of contact for our Spain/UK locations on accounting matters and would coordinate closely between HBA US & Philippines accounting offices, as well as local tax/accounting consultants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate day-to-day accounting and finance requirements for the Spain office with the UK Admin team and the accounting office in the USA/Philippines.
  • Serve as the local point of contact for accounting-related matters in Spain, ensuring requests and documentation are communicated accurately and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Review, organize, and translate Spanish accounting, tax, banking, payroll, and other financial documents into English as needed for processing and review by the Finance team.
  • Coordinate with the local Spanish tax/accounting consultant regarding statutory accounting requirements, tax filings, compliance matters, and other local finance requirements.
  • Provide the USA/Philippines accounting team with the information and supporting documentation required to maintain the company's accounting records.
  • Assist in reconciling local accounting and statutory information with Group accounting records and reporting requirements.
  • Follow up with internal teams and external consultants to resolve accounting discrepancies, outstanding documentation, and compliance matters.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities and provide information required for statutory accounts, tax filings, and audits.
  • Ensure that local accounting and tax deadlines are communicated to the appropriate finance teams and that required information is submitted on time.

Required Experience and minimum requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting or equivalent with professional certification
  • Locally based in Madrid and has the right to work in Spain
  • 2-3 years’ of relevant experience in Finance/Accounting
  • Past audit experience is an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge in IFRS Accounting Standards; Taxation Law; etc.
  • Familiarity with Spanish accounting & tax requirements
  • Independent, diligent, analytical and self-motivated
  • Strong analytical skills, meticulous with an eye for details.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with finance teams located in multiple countries.
  • Experience working in an international or multinational organization is preferred.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (verbal and written) is mandatory with the ability to translate and explain financial and accounting documentation between the two languages.
