Job Description

Account Executive, Video Editor

ABOUT THE ROLE

Position: Account Executive, Video Editor

Place: Delhi

About us:

Founded in 2017, ON PURPOSE exists to use the power of communications to drive social change in India. It works with clients and organizations in 5 broad areas: Climate Action, Public Health, Education, Gender and Tech4Good.

The Culture We Proudly Offer

More than words. ON PURPOSE has been at the forefront of defining what a progressive workplace looks like. Our focus on building a safe and welcoming workplace for all has led us to innovate with policies like ‘6 days of paid leave for all menstruating employees’; 12 weeks of parental leave for all non-birthing people and a fixed lunch hour that is mentioned in our signatures.

We also have a team of ‘D&I Ke Gunde’ who are trained to help us challenge our biases and create a more inclusive workplace.

Don’t just take our word for it- In 2025, ON PURPOSE was recognised among the ‘12 Best Agencies in India and South Asia’ by Provoke Media and featured in the exchange4media's PR and Corp Comms Watchlist 2026 (Agencies)’. We've also received multiple honours, including ‘Best Organisation for Women Empowerment’ at the Women Achievers Summit and Awards 2025, as well as ‘Best Culture of the Year’, ‘Best Diversity & Inclusion of the Year’, and ‘PR Team of the Year’ at the Campaign India Awards.

Your Roles and Responsibilities

  • Own the edit on flagship work across social media, digital campaigns, films, events, and internal communications, from first cut to final delivery.
  • Shape the video idea before it exists. Sit in briefs, pitches, and creative reviews, and bring a point of view on story, structure, and format rather than waiting for a locked script.
  • Set the quality bar for video across the studio. Define the look, pacing, sound design, and finish standards that everything else is measured against.
  • Review and direct the work of junior editors. Give clear, actionable feedback, unblock them technically, and raise their craft over time.
  • Build the systems that make speed possible. Project templates, asset libraries, naming conventions, motion presets, export specs per platform, and a file structure anyone can pick up.
  • Scope and defend timelines. Break briefs into realistic effort, flag risk early, and hold the line on what good work actually takes.
  • Present and defend cuts to clients. Translate feedback into decisions, and know when to push back and when to bend.
  • Run multiple projects in parallel without letting the standard slip on any of them.
  • Keep the team ahead on formats, platform behaviour, and editing trends, and bring that back as usable direction, not just references.Own the edit end to end on the work that matters most, across social media, digital campaigns, brand films, events, and internal communications. First cut to final delivery, you are the one accountable for how it lands.
  • Bring the creative idea, not just the execution. Sit in briefs, pitches, and creative reviews, and bring a point of view on story, structure, and format rather than waiting for a locked script.
  • Aim for award-winning work as the default, not the exception. Know the difference between a video that finishes a brief and a video that wins something.
  • Set and hold the quality bar. Look development, grade, sound design, typography, motion, and finish. If it leaves your timeline, it should be the strongest possible version of that idea.
  • Meet client expectations without flattening the work. Read a brief accurately, translate feedback into decisions, present and defend your cuts, and know when to push back and when to bend.
  • Stay genuinely current on technology and AI in post production. Test what is new, work out where it saves real time and where it costs quality, and bring back a working point of view instead of a link.
  • Build AI into your actual pipeline where it earns its place. Generative footage and extensions, upscaling and restoration, rotoscoping and masking, voice and dubbing, text-based editing, auto-captioning and translation.
  • Move between software without friction. Tools change, projects arrive in whatever the last person used, and clients have their own preferences. You should be able to pick up an unfamiliar setup and be productive in it quickly.
  • Solve problems technically. Bad footage, missing coverage, impossible turnarounds, awkward formats. Senior means you find a route, not that you flag a blocker.
  • Run multiple projects in parallel and protect the standard on all of them. Manage your own timelines, files, versions, and deliverables cleanly enough that anyone can pick them up.
  • Cut for the platform, not just to length. Know how Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and X actually behave and let that shape the edit, the hook, the captions, and the export.

What You’ll Need (must haves for the role) :

  • 2-3 years of video editing experience, ideally in an agency, media, or content-led environment.
  • Strong command of Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, with the flexibility to work in DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or whatever a project demands.
  • Working ability in motion graphics and animation. You can build a title system, a lower third package, or a short animated sequence yourself.
  • Real storytelling instinct. You can find the story in messy footage and cut for emotion, rhythm, and intent, not just runtime.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools in a production context, with a clear sense of what each is actually good for and where it falls apart.
  • A quality-first approach. You self-review before anyone else sees it, you sweat frame timings and audio levels, and you care about the last five percent.
  • Sound judgment under pressure. You separate useful feedback from preference, explain your choices, and hold deadlines without dropping the standard.
  • Ability to work closely with account teams, writers, designers, and clients in a fast-moving environment.

What Would Be Nice to Have

  • Work that has been shortlisted or awarded, or a reel that clearly belongs in that conversation.
  • Colour grading and sound design ability beyond the basics.
  • Comfort with Photoshop, Illustrator, and Audition, enough to handle your own assets and audio.
  • On-set or shoot experience, so you know what to ask for before you are the one stuck with what came back.
  • An active habit of testing new tools and formats on your own time, and a point of view on where video is heading.
  • Freshly brewed coffee-making skills. But don't worry, we won't judge you for it.

What You Can Expect From Us

  • A safe, yet challenging work environment: As a high-growth company, our team members are regularly tasked with taking on more responsibility than you would typically get at a larger, more established organisation.
  • An investment in growth and learning: We’re bringing the best of communication techniques to solve some of India’s most troubling social issues. You’ll learn and grow with us.
  • A space to make your own: if you have the talent, ambition and willingness to learn, you’ll most definitely find your own space in communications that you can own and hone.

ON PURPOSE is an equal opportunity employer and considers applicants for all positions without regard to race, color, religion or belief, sex, age, national origin, citizenship status, marital status, military/veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical or mental disability.
